Cycling and hiking trails around the LÜ

Whether by bike or on foot – the idyllic surroundings of the LÜ invite you to enjoy the landscape to the full. Located directly on popular cycling and hiking trails, our beer garden is the ideal place for a relaxing break.

For cyclists, we offer everything your heart desires: plenty of parking spaces and refreshments from our kitchen. If you would like to stay longer, you can make yourself comfortable in our cozy hotel rooms. No wonder that many guests enjoy their stopover longer than originally planned – because the relaxed atmosphere and the special ambience in the LÜ make every break a little experience.

Why is cycling from Lü so attractive? Nowhere is the landscape as typically Lower Rhine as here. Largely flat land with slight elevations, flora and fauna offer unique impressions. Of course, numerous cycling routes lead along lakes, rivers, through forests and floodplain landscapes. The cycle node network based on the Dutch Knooppunt model is now also well developed on this side of the border, and bicycles have the right of way. The agency Niederrhein Tourismus makes sure that bikes can also be rented at many places, see https://niederrhein-tourismus.de/fahrradverleih-niederrheinrad

In a nutshell: the region around the Lüttelforster Mühle is a paradise for cyclists; there are 95 varied tours in the lowlands. Whereby also the one or the other elevation, which the ice ages have left us, demand the condition and strengthen the health. The end moraine fill of the Süchtelner heights is not far away, one or the other little mountain has even made it to Lüttelforst …

It becomes worthwhile already on the doorstep of Lü, for example, when exploring from the bike saddle of the charming village of Lüttelforst. But also the Nette lakes, a bit along the Schwalm, to nearby Roermond, to the attractive town centers of Waldniel, Amern or Niederkrüchten, to the old town of Mönchengladbach – everything is easy to reach on two wheels. Cycle through the world of Lü!

(Not only) cyclists know: It is no coincidence that the Schwalm-Nette Nature Park bears the “Wandervolle Wasserwelt” (Hiking Water World) seal of approval. All hiking trails are of course also open for cyclists. People are considerate of each other, cyclists and hikers get along very well in the nature park. Es gibt zahlreiche Premium-Wanderwege, der naheliegendste heißt „Schwalmbruch“ nahe Elmpt mit Schwalm-Auen, Wacholderheide und Feuchtwiesen.
